Rita (Schardin) Livingstone, a resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Kaplan Family Hospice House, at age 63.
Rita was born on November 5, 1961, daughter of the late James and Lois (Schroeder) Schardin. Starting with Merrill Lynch, Rita’s career entailed a variety of positions for over 30 years in the financial services industry. Most recently, she retired as Senior Product Manager for Fidelity Information Services.
Maine held a special place in Rita’s heart. Beginning with her marriage to John, she returned yearly for inspiring trips of skiing, hiking, boating on Kezar Lake or leaf peeping during peak foliage season. She carried those memories near and dear, and forever remembered moments enjoying the outdoors of Maine with family.
One of Rita's favorite passions was quilting. She generously and humbly shared her talent of quilting with distinctive gifts for family and friends to cherish.
Rita faced her health challenges with grace, strength and a constant smile. She inspired those around her with hope, not despair and was so thankful for the many memories of visits with her siblings and special trips with John.
Rita will be cherished and remembered for her wittiness and genuine laughter. Her warm and loving smile will live on in the hearts and minds of her family for years to come. May she rest in eternal peace.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 34 years, John Livingstone; her siblings, Annette Schardin, Katy (Rory) Smith, Jim (Karla) Schardin, Lulu (Dale) Blake, and John (Aiko) Schardin. Rita was also a special auntie to many nieces and nephews.
Services for Rita will be private. A Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
