Mr. Robert Cusato, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Genesis at Wakefield Center, at age 78.
Robert was born in Wakefield on May 20, 1936, one of 14 children of the late Ralph Cusato and Anne (Storti) Cusato.Bob was raised and educated in Wakefield and settled in Melrose with his family.
Bob worked as a self-employed contractor for 35 years. After retiring from the contracting business, he worked for Century Bank for 10 years. During his free time, Bob enjoyed many rounds of golf at Hickory Hill in Methuen, Cedar Grove in Wakefield, and Sagamore in Lynnfield.
Bob was the devoted husband of Nancy (Poehler) Cusato. Loving father of Robert Cusato, Jr. of Quincy, William Cusato and his wife Nancy of Acton, Lori Knipper and her husband Richard of Lake Placid, FL, Stacey Peters and her husband Ken of Londonderry, NH, and Karen Nawn of Crofton, MD.Stepfather of Ronald Rich and his wife Lynn of Brookline, NH, Gary Rich of Worcester, and Karen Walsh and her husband Vinnie of Stoneham.Dear brother Edward Cusato of Syracuse, NY, Ronald Cusato of Peabody, Elizabeth Hawkins of OH, and the late John, Gloria, Joseph, Ralph, Arthur, Donald, Sandy, Geraldine, Richard, and David. Caring grandfather of Danielle Cusato, Michael Cusato, Katie Knipper, Tom Nawn, Drew Nawn, Tim Peters, Stephanie Peters, Zach Peters, Danny Peters, Michael Sampson, Kasey Rich, and Alyssa Rich. Great-grandfather of Hunter Sampson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Bob's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, September 11 from 4-8PM, and again on Friday morning at 9AM before leaving in procession to St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 10AM. Interment in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.Gifts in Bob's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
