Robert L. Durette
Bob was born April 12, 1926 a son of the late Joachim P. 'Pete' and Isabella (Roy) Durette. A graduate of Durfee High School he then attended business school in Providence. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Bob married Pauline G. Tremblay on June 11, 1949 in Saint Anne's Church in Fall River. They made Fall River their home for many years before moving to Malden in 1955. His late wife, Pauline who died August 6, 2014 was a well-known hairdresser with Zani Salon on Essex Street in Melrose for many years.
He worked as an accountant for H.P. Hood Company for over 62 years. He loved his work and his colleagues and as a result opted to retire at age 82. Work gave him a sense of belonging, being productive and amidst people who respected and with a company he was proud to be associated. He was a member of its Quarter Century Club.
Outside of work he enjoyed gardening and time with his family. He was an outgoing and friendly gentleman. Always willing to lend a helping hand he will also be remembered for his terrific sense of humor.He will be very much missed.
He leaves his children, Robert P. Durette of Malden, Michelle C. Durette of Bradford, Denis R. Durette of Lowell, Christine P. Durette of Bradford and David R. Durette of Malden, daughter-in-law, Linda Small Durette; his grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica Durette, Emily Hall (Chet), Ariane, Devon and Lauren Avandi;Norman Durette of Phoenix, Arizona and the late Lorraine Cunningham and Peter Durette; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Georgette Pouliot (Richard) of Saline, Michigan; also survived by nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Robert during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, September 6th from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 7th in Holy Trinity Church, 951 Stafford Road, Fall River at 11 a.m. His nephew, Fr. Marc Tremblay will be the celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Fall River.
