Robert F. “Bobby” Hyder, a resident of Laurel Hollow, NY and formerly of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at age 69.
Robert was born in Boston on June 11, 1953, one of three children of the late Frederick Hyder and Theresa (Salami) Hyder.
Raised in Stoneham, he graduated from Stoneham High School, Class of 1971. Bobby then received training and graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He received his degree in 1973 and served as a Chef in the Greater Boston area for many years.
Later in life, after retiring from being a Chef, Bobby established his own high-end car detailing business. He loved meticulously detailing his clients vehicles, was well known for his exceptional attention to detail, and only stopped working due to medical reasons. Bobby, as he was affectionately known, was a Lawrence resident for many years, before moving to Laurel Hollow, NY to be closer to his sister and niece and nephews.
He loved meteorology and could be found in front of a window peacefully watching the snow fall. With a strong connection to family, Bobby enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, playing a game of chess, or watching the cooking channel. Of Lebanese and Syrian descent, Bobby stayed true to his roots with his love for family, and food.
Throughout childhood and into his adult years, Cape Cod held a special place in his heart. Summer vacations for much of his life were spent on the shores of Craigville Beach with family. In fact, his last vacation was spent with his sister and nephew on Cape Cod enjoying the salt air, and the fresh breeze off the ocean.
Bobby was a very gentle soul who shared freely his unconditional and loving heart with family and friends. With sincere kindness, he remained extremely loyal to his friends, and served as a wonderful, loving brother, and relatable uncle. He will be deeply and sorely missed, but his kindness, tender heart, and family dedication will remain as his lasting legacy. May he rest in eternal peace.
Bobby was the beloved brother of Jan G. Passarella of Laurel Hollow, NY, and the late Fredric J. Hyder and his surviving wife Constance of Randolph. Caring brother-in-law of Fred Passarella of Muttontown, NY. Loving uncle of Catherine M. Egan and her husband Thomas of Quincy, MA, Jordan F. Passarella, Nicole A. Passarella, and Frederick F. Passarella, all of Long Island, NY.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, on Friday, May 12 from 3-7p, and again on Saturday, May 13 for his Funeral Service celebrated at 10am.
