Mr. Robert W. Kennedy, a lifelong resident of Melrose, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 after a period of declining health at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.He was 80 years old.
Robert was born on January 8, 1930 in Lowell, son of the late Benjamin R. Kennedy and Margaret (Maher) Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was raised and educated in Melrose.For 30 years, he worked as a service technician for Mystic Valley Gas and later Boston Gas Co.He was a New York Yankees and NASCAR fan.As an outdoorsman, Mr. Kennedy enjoyed many deer and pheasant hunting trips with his grandchildren.
Mr. Kennedy was the beloved husband of Sally E. (Marsolais) Kennedy with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.Devoted father of Sally E. French and her husband Jim, Peggy Richardson and her husband Gary, and Susan E. Bell and her companion Tim McSweeney, all of Melrose.Dear brother of Mary Lou Christian of Ahoski, NC. Cherished grandfather of Lisa Quigley of Malden, Lori Quigley of Allston, Edward Sarmanian of Melrose, Robert Bell of Salem, NH, William Bell of Melrose, Brian Bell of Georgetown, and the late Gary S. Huber.Loving great-grandfather of Stephen, Tyler, Brandon, Savanah, Benjamin, Kaitlin, Jillian, and Erin.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, May 13 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours on Wednesday from 5-8 PM.
