Mr. Bob W. Kershaw of Melrose, died suddenly on Saturday afternoon, October 11, 2008 at Mass General Hospital in Boston.He was 73 years old.
Bob was born July 14, 1935 in Fall River, a son of the late George Kershaw and Josephine (Martin) Kershaw.
Bob was raised in Cambridge, graduated from Rindge Technical School and from Northeastern University in 1961. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War.For many years, Bob worked as an accountant for various companies and was self-employed in industrial sales.He also substitute taught at Melrose Middle and High Schools.He was a member of the Melrose Elks Club and was very involved in Mount Hood golf.He enjoyed baseball, golfing and loved making cross-country car trips.Bob was well known for his activity in local Melrose sports and politics.He was active with Babe Ruth baseball and Lady Raiders sports teams.He coached Little League and Senior Babe Ruth and was a proud member of the "Back Row Boys." He also was a former Ward 3 Alderman and a former member of the Melrose Republican Committee.
Bob was the beloved husband of Nancy (Nash) Kershaw with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Devoted father of Lisa K. Walsh of Melrose and Rob W. Kershaw of W.Roxbury. Cherished grandfather of Samantha Walsh, Allison Walsh and Melissa Walsh, Lauren Kershaw and Brian Kershaw.Dear brother of Josephine Letcher of Davie FL, Thomas of Hampstead, NH and the late George Kershaw.
