Mr. Robert J. King, Sr., of Melrose, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 in Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a period of failing health. He was 86 years old.
He leaves his children, Robert J. and his wife, Constance of Monrovia, CA, Carole L. Sellars and her husband Robert of Ipswich, Herbert L. King and his wife Debra of Malden and William R. King and his wife Louanne of Nashua, NH. He also leaves his loving companion Adeline Marcotte of Melrose; Grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of twelve; Brother of the late Simeon and Flossie King. He was born in Bauline, Newfoundland, Canada son of the late William H. and Catherine J. (Driscoll) King and lived over 60 years in Melrose. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Bob was a carpenter foreman for Local #218 Carpenter's Union in Boston. He was foreman for several large construction projects, including the State Street Bank Building, Museum Wharf, The Kennedy Library and the Meadow Glen Mall. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Fidelity Lodge in Melrose and an avid fisherman.
