Robert W. Lally, resident of Andover, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at a Lawrence General Hospital. He was 75.
Born in Boston on August 31, 1947, Robert was one of three children of the late Walter and Julia (Mazzarino) Lally. Bob grew up in Melrose, graduating from Melrose High School in 1965. After high school, Bob served honorably in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in 1970.
Reserved and introspective, Bob enjoyed studying history, watching the Boston area sports teams, traveling to Europe and Egypt, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed the company of his family at gatherings for holidays and summer barbeques. Bob spent many wonderful summers as a young boy at Humarock Beach with siblings, cousins, and other extended family members.
Bob’s presence will be missed.
Bob was the loving brother of Paula L. O’Brien of Haverhill, and the late Adeline J. “Addie” Thistle. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Edward W. Thistle of Danvers. Bob was the caring uncle of Kimberly C. (O’Brien) Lawson and her husband Ronald, Erin L. O’Brien, Todd T. Thistle, Courtney J. Thistle, and the late Edward S. Thistle. He is also survived by great nieces, Chloe and Piper and great nephews, Jack, Tyler and Jake.
