Mr. Robert J. Leason, a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Winchester Hospital, at the age of 74.
Robert was born on May 26, 1939 in Melrose, a son of the late Charles F. Leason and May I. (Clark) Leason.He was raised in Melrose and enjoyed playing sports at Melrose High School.A good athlete, he was known as "Greasy Leasy" for his ability to shed tacklers on the football field.One of seven children, Bob began working at a young age to help support his family.At age 17, he started his 20-year career as a box cutter at the International Paper Co.
Bob loved eating lobster, and enjoyed driving to Maine to splurge on his favorite lobster dinner.He enjoyed the thrill of playing the lottery, and was a big Boston sports fan.He looked forward to going to Fenway Park along with his daughter Darlene to watch the Red Sox play, and loved cheering for his beloved New England Patriots every Sunday with his son David.Bob loved his family, and was always ready to make people laugh with his great sense of humor.
Bob was the devoted father of Darlene J. Cote and her husband Michael of Kingston, NH, David A. Leason and his wife Maryann Penketh of Stoneham, and the late Robert L. Leason.Dear brother of Kay Hier, Maryjo Leason, David Leason, Margie Colon, the late Gloria Cross, and Charles Leason. Cherished grandfather of Amanda Cody, TJ Leason, Lori Leason, and Shannon Leason.Former husband of Jean E. Fusco of FL.Also survived by longtime friendSandy Moldt of Reading, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends will honor Bob's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, July 31 from 4-8PM, and for his Funeral Service at the First Congregational Church, 121 W.
