Mr. Robert M. Luken, a retired school teacher died suddenly at home on Monday morning September 4, 2006.He was 73 years old.
Bob was born in Wakefield on March 4, 1933, son of the late Roy E. Luken and Lucy (Skillings) Luken.
One of 12 children born and raised in Wakefield, Bob was captain of his football team at Wakefield High School.He joined the United States Air Force and was part of an air squad that flew the A bomb during the Korean Conflict.After serving his country he returned to Wakefield and was married at Most Blessed Sacrament Church. At age 40 he became a full time student at Fitchburg State and received his bachelor of arts degree. Bob taught Industrial Arts at Bedford High School and Danvers High School.He was a very active scout master for Wakefield troop #701 for many years having 17 eagle scouts, 2 of his own sons, Eric and Matthew. He was a master wood craftsman making toys for crafts and fairs.He was an excellent cribbage player and played competitively in Lynn.
Bob was the beloved husband of Justine (McCormack)Luken.Devoted father of Mark H. of Hampton, NH, Jonathan R. of Lynn, Eric R. of Wakefield and Matthew J. of Minneapolis, MN.Dear brother of Richard P. and Ronald A. both of NH, Janice M. Butler of CA and the late Roy, Francis, Willard, Alice Daland, Ruth Luken, Rolland, Elizaberth Frost and Marie Moore. Cherished grandfather of Zachary, Philip, Christopher, and Catelyn. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
