Mr. Robert "Bob" Messenger, of Tewksbury formerly of Melrose, died suddenly on Saturday June 19, 2010 at his home.He was 63 years old.
Robert Messenger was born in Norwood on July 21, 1946, a son of the late Robert E. Messenger and Lillian V. (Walsh) Messenger.
Robert or "Bob" as he was affectionately known was raised and educated in Revere. Following four years of service to his country in the United States Air Force, he became an electrician.He had worked for Genzyme for 15 years.Bob enjoyed coaching and umpiring for Incarnation Little League baseball and being involved with the Melrose Bandaiders.He will be long remembered for his love of the Boston Celtics.
Bob was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Feraco) Messenger with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.Loving father of Joshua D. Messenger and his wife Megan of Saugus, Kathryn A. Cyr and her husband David of Tewksbury, and Elisabeth A. Carpenter and her husband Adam of Billerica.Dear brother of Patricia C. Norris and her late husband John of Tewksbury and Roberta E. Varnum and her husband Fred of Morrisville, NC.Cherished grandfather of Nathan and Caroline Cyr of Tewksbury and Henry Carpenter of Billerica.Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Wednesday, June 23 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in love and remembrance of Bob at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
