Robert A. Miller
Bob was born in Stoneham on February 22, 1943, the son of the late Robert C. Miller, Jr. and Catherine (Major) Miller. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, and entered the United States Coast Guard. A proud veteran, Bob served during the Vietnam War aboard the USCG Cutter Duane and was honorably discharged in February of 1966. He settled in Stoneham with his wife Lorraine to raise three children.
Bob was an independent guy with simple needs in life. He worked the same job for HC Stark, Metal Manufacturing for over 25 years, and really enjoyed his career. Retiring early in his mid 50's, Bob inspected precious metals as a quality control supervisor and enjoyed regular trips to Europe.
Outside of his family, Bob's main interest in life was golfing. He loved to golf, everywhere and anywhere and made many friends throughout his countless rounds. He enjoyed spending summers in W. Yarmouth and later retired there, and during the winter enjoyed the golf courses at The Villages, Florida.
As a Coast Guard veteran, Bob was a man who liked his routines. He found comfort in keeping things simple and predictable. He loved old radio shows, watching Boston sports, and always kept an eye on the weather. In the more recent years, he looked forward to Saturday night dinners with his longtime close friend and neighbor, Patricia Halligan. Above all else, visits with his grandchildren and sharing his life with them was most important to Bob.
Bob was the former husband of the late Lorraine B. (Jenks) Miller. Devoted father of Robert V. Miller and his wife Caprice of Taylorsville, NC, Jodi M. Moore and her husband Brian of Wilmington, and the late Scott A. Miller. Loving grandfather of Alicia Rowe and her husband Steven of Melrose, Heather Miller and her fiancé Matt McLaughlin of Lynn, Michael Hogan of Taylorsville, NC, Stephanie Hogan of Maricopa, AZ, Tyler Miller of Taylorsville, NC, Ryan Miller of Taylorsville, NC, Adam Miller of Taylorsville, NC, Kyle Miller of Taylorsville, NC, Lauren Miller of Taylorsville, NC, Nicholas Moore of Wilmington, and Kiersten Moore of Wilmington. Proud great-grandfather of Christopher, Samantha, and Madison.
Relatives & friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Bob during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, February 7 from 9-10am, followed by his Funeral Service at 10am. Interment with military honors by the US Coast Guard at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
