Ron was born on March 3, 1942 in Stoneham, one of three sons of the late Vera (Tangredi) and Lawrence F. Collins.Raised and educated in Malden, Ron graduated from Malden High School.He worked for Pepsi Cola for 35 years as a Sales Manager, most recently out of the Wilmington office.
Ron was a proud family man who cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.He was an avid sports fan and found great joy in watching his grandsons play baseball.He enjoyed playing golf at Mt. Hood, gardening, and watching the Red Sox.
He was the beloved husband of Joan L. (Berg) Collins with whom he shared 50years of marriage.Devoted father of Ronald E. Collins, Jr. and his wife Sue of Nashua, NH, Jennifer L. Collins of Beverly, and the late Christopher J. Collins.Dear brother of Lawrence Collins and his wife Jean of Malden, and Kenneth Collins and his wife Cyd of Southwest Harbor, ME.Cherished grandfather of Charlie, Nathaniel, Isabella, and Sophia.Caring brother-in-law of Janice DeSimone and her husband Stephen of Wakefield, and Louise McGuinness and her husband Jerry of Melrose.He is also survived by his favorite grand-dog "Bentley."
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Ron's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, April 24 from 4-8 PM and again on Wednesday morning where his Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
