Mrs. Rosalyn B. (Anapolsky) Smith, a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital, at the age of 83.
Rosalyn was born on March 10, 1929 in Boston, one of three children of the late Philip and Freeda (Jacovitch) Anapolsky.She was raised in Boston where she graduated from high school.For nearly 30 years, she worked for Sears in the Credit Department in Lynn and later in Salem.After retiring, she worked part time for the Lynn Elementary Schools as a school monitor.
Rosalyn who was lovingly known as "Roz" was a very friendly and outgoing person.Everywhere she went people were drawn to her affable and talkative nature.Roz was the wife of retired Lynn attorney, Sumner H. Smith, and they belonged to many local organizations and were active in the Jewish community in Lynn.Roz led a very active life.She walked every day, loved gardening and yard work, and in her younger years, received many awards for her running prowess.She will be remembered as an especially good cook, but above all else for her love of her four grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of Sumner H. Smith with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Stuart B. Smith and his wife Diane of Bradford.Dear sister of the late Seymour Paull and his wife Mary Jane of Hyannis, and the late Bernard Anapolsky.Cherished grandmother of Tiffany Santarelli and her husband Carmine, Jeremy Smith and his wife Kerry, Shani Smith, and Ashley Smith.Loving great-grandmother of Sarah and Emma Smith.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Roz's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, October 15 from 4-8 PM and again on Tuesday morning where her Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10 AM.Interment in Vilkomir Cemetery, Melrose.
