Mrs. Rose D. (Gramazio) Pica, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Thursday evening, April 11, 2013 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, at the age of 80.
Rose was born on February 15, 1933 in Bronx, New York, one of five children of the late Michael E. and Lillian (Ochs) Gramazio.She was raised and educated in the Bronx.A graduate of the Nursing School at Salem State College, Rose began her nursing career after her children started high school.She was a lifelong caretaker and worked at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Tuell Nursing Home in Melrose, and was the Director of Nursing at the Fitch Home in Melrose for 25 years.She was always devoted to her patients and co-workers at the Fitch Home and enjoyed her many years working there.Above all else, Rose loved her family, and especially cherished her beloved 5 grandchildren.
Rose was the former wife of Patrick P. Pica of Key West, FL.Beloved mother of Stephen M. Pica and his wife Judy of Peabody, Karen L. Comppen and her husband Charlie of Melrose, and Sharon M. Pica of Melrose.Dear sister of Margaret Massimo of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas M. Gramazio of Ocala, FL, and the late Edward F. Gramazio, and Albert F. Gramazio.Cherished grandmother of Patrick S.. Pica of Peabody, Gina M. Pica of Peabody, Jennifer L. Comppen of Melrose, Nicole E. Comppen of Melrose, and Stephanie R. Comppen of Melrose.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Rose's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, April 18 from 9-11AM followed by her Funeral Service celebrated at 11:00AM.
