Mrs. Rose M. (Tassone) Piccione, a resident of Malden, and formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2015, at age 89.

Rose was born in East Boston on April 18, 1926, one of six children of the late Ventura F. Tassone and Grace (Papasadora) Tassone.The daughter of Italian immigrants, Rose was raised and educated in East Boston.She married Pasqualino S. Piccione on May 26, 1957 at Sacred Hearts Church in E. Boston and they made a home in Somerville. She stayed at home to raise her two daughters and centered her life around caring for her beloved family.

While living in Somerville from 1957 until 1994, Rose was a longtime active member of the Women's Auxiliary at the American Legion Post #19 where Pasqualino was a member.She was also a regular parishioner at St. Catherine's in Somerville, and St. Joseph's after moving to Malden.

A strong willed person, Rose was a woman who always believed in herself. She loved her family dearly, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She made the best meatballs and sauce, and her green beans and garlic were well known in the family.She loved watching TV especially her favorite soap "Days of Our Lives." She watched nearly every day, and even convinced the rest of her family to join her. Rose was also an avid reader with a particular love for mysteries and her Soap Opera Digest. In her free time, she loved going to the Somerville or Malden Public Library and finding a good book to read. Above all else, Rose was woman who loved being with her family and treasured her many memories with them. She will be missed but never forgotten.

Rose was the beloved wife of Pasqualino S. Piccione with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Annette M. D'Onofrio and her husband Thomas of Malden, and Denise A. Ellis and her husband Paul of Medford. Cherished grandmother of Michaela and Thomas D'Onofrio of Malden, and Kimberly and Christopher Ellis of Medford. Loving sister of Catherine Tassone of Winthrop, Frank Tassone of Saugus, Albert Tassone of Billerica, Grace Simpson of AZ, and the late Joseph Tassone. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Rose's life for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, June 18 from 6-8pm, and again on Friday morning at 9am before leaving in procession to St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St., Malden for her Funeral Mass celebrated at 10am. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
