Mrs. Rose M. (Foster) Savary, a longtime Melrose resident, died on Sunday May 23, 2010, after a period of declining health at the Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center.She was 84 years old.

Mrs. Savary was born on April 7, 1926 in Boston, a daughter of the late George A. Foster and Rose C. (Brown) Foster.She was raised and educated in Dorchester.She will be long remembered for her love of sewing and cooking.She was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed making clothes and curtains for her children and grandchildren.

Rose was the beloved wife of the late Calvin C. Savary with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Glenys A. Szczukaand her husband Michael of Salem, Jay F. Savary and his wife Paula of Melrose, and Barry W. Savary and his wife Allison of Wakefield.Cherished grandmother of Steven Calandrella, Timothy Calandrella, ChristinaCalandrella, Alisha Savary, Jonathan Savary, Ryan Savary, Brendan Savary, and Jillian Savary and 2 great-grandchildren. Rose was also survived by her sister in law, Caroline Foster of Scituate.She was predeceased by her brother, George Foster, and a granddaughter, Joy Calandrella.

The Savary family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center and Sol Amor Hospice Care for the wonderful care they provided for Rose.

Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, on Wednesday May 26 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.Gifts in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
