Roswell L. Atwood, age 93, of Melrose, MA died February 4, 2004 at the Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose, MA.Roswell was born in Salem, MAOctober 20, 1910, son of the late Henry and Mabel Atwood.He had been a resident of Melrose for the past 62 years.
"Ross" Atwood taught Public Speaking for executives, and his manual, "Atwood's Rules for Meetings", is considered an authority on Parliamentary Law by many labor organizations.He taught courses in both subjects at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, the Harvard Business School's Trade Union Program and Advanced Management Program.Before retiring in 1984, he was the Director of Education for the IAFF/AFL-CIO in Washington, DC.An active member in over 46 hereditary organizations, he was the Governor General of the Order of the Founders and the Patriots of America.
Roswell was the husband of the late Thelma E. (Bowlby) Atwood.Father of Alden Atwood of Washington, DC.Brother of Harry Atwood and Helen Brown, both of NH.Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.A private funeral service was held Friday Feb. 13, 2004 at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE. Interment in Union Cemetery, Chatham, MA.
