Mr. Roy G. Loveys, resident of Rumney, NH and formerly Melrose, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was 85 years old. He was born in Cambridge on October 29, 1924, a son of the late P. Augustus Loveys and J. Violet (Jacobs) Loveys. Roy was raised and educated in Chelsea.He served his country in the US Navy during World War II.Roy worked on the City of Melrose Fire Department for 33 years, retiring in 1976.He was a member of Fidelity Lodge AF&AM, the Aleppo Temple Shrine, and the American Legion Post of Rumney, NH.While on the Fire Department, healso worked as a carpenter, locksmith, painter and wallpaper hanger.
Mr. Loveys was the beloved husband of Frances I. (Morabito) Loveys.Former husband of the late Janet A. (Clark) Loveys.Devoted father of Linda L. Jeffrey and her husband Edward H. of Saugus, Robert M. Loveys of Coppell, TX, William H. Loveys and his wife Tammy of Coppell, TX, Robert A. Holt and his wife Rhonda of Reading and the late Susan I. Holt.Dear brother of Ralph A. Loveys of Florham Park, NJ.Cherished grandfather of Jessica L. Jeffrey, Andrew E. Jeffrey, Justin E. Loveys, Michael R. Loveys, and Kevin Holt.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Thursday, February 25 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody with military honors presented by the US Navy.
