Mrs. Ruth (Rundlett) Ward, of Melrose, died Saturday evening, March 22, 2008 in the Melrose - Wakefield Hospital, after a period of failing health. She was to celebrate her 81st birthday on Monday, March 24.
Mrs. Ward was born in Newburyport on March 24, 1927, daughter of the late John C. Rundlett and Thelma (Leach) Rundlett.
She leaves her husband of 59 years, Osborne 'Carl' Ward Jr.; her children, Jon C. Ward of Avon, Connecticut, Dale B. Ward and his wife, Robyn, of Mt. Holly, New Jersey and Martha Ward Lashua and her husband, Jim, of Auburn, Maine; three grandchildren, Jason S. McIntyre and his wife, Marcey, of Hampden, Maine, Sarah M. Kelley and her husband, Ryan, of Brookline, NH, Benjamin W. McIntyre and his wife, Nicole, of Hooksett, NH; three step-grandchildren, Dennis and Tina Wilson of Mt. Holly, New Jersey, and Kurt Lashua of Auburn, Maine; five great-grandchildren, Brendan and Ian McIntyre of Hampden, Maine, Brodie Ann, Matthew E. and Eva Michelle Kelley, all of Brookline, New Hampshire. Ruth was anticipating the birth of her sixth great-grandchild, Isabel Grace McIntyre.
She was a graduate of Melrose High School, class of 1945 and later attended Simmons College. Mrs. Ward was a member of Foster Memorial Church in Springfield; life active in the Kappa Delta Psi and the 'P.E.O. Sisterhood' and the Melrose 200 Club.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 29, 2008 in the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Melrose. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Program for Continuing Education P. E.O.
