Ruth M. (Doucette) Woodford

Ruth M. (Doucette) Woodford, resident of Wakefield and formerly of Everett, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at a Melrose healthcare facility.  She was 97.

Born in Lynn on December 3, 1924, Ruth was one of four children of the late Edward and Mary (née Comeau) Doucette.  Ruth grew up in Nova Scotia returning to the United States when she was 18.  She married her beloved Gordon on June 30, 1946, and they went on to share many happy years together.

During WWII, Ruth worked as a Welder at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy.

Ruth was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and homemaker.  Her favorite place was with her family.  She proudly kept a tidy home, was exceptionally active in the lives of her family, and enjoyed baking.

For the last ten years Ruth lived with her sister Irene in Wakefield and they enjoyed weekly trips to the Square One Mall Food Court to visit with their friends.

Ruth’s love and presence will be missed by all.

Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Gordon H. Woodford with whom she shared 40 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Wayne G. Woodford and his wife Irene of Hampden, ME, and Jean M. Pietrantonio and her husband Thomas of Everett. Loving sister of Irene Halliwell and her late husband Joseph of Wakefield, and the late Donald and Edward Doucette.  Proud grandmother of Heather Pietrantonio and her husband Alfred, Danielle Pietrantonio, and Brandon and Shane Woodford.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Addison and Avery MacDonald, Austin Lattanzi, and Corinna Woodford, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Ruth's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 4-7 pm, and again on Wednesday morning at 9am before leaving in procession to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield for her Funeral Mass celebrated at 10am.
