Salvatore Sicari, resident of Peabody, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, May 11, 2020 at his home.He was 89.
Born on October 16, 1930, in Augusta, Sicily, Salvatore was a son of the late Gaetano and Nunziata (nee Calabro) Sicari.He grew up in Augusta and got into commercial fishing.At the age of 23, Salvatore left his native land and moved to Caracas Venezuela.He built a successful fishing business.
Always putting his family first, Salvatore wanted a better life and better opportunities for his children.In 1960, he and the family moved to Massachusetts to start anew.He took a job at a produce packing plant and worked there until his retirement.His work ethic and selflessness were passed down to his children and grandchildren.
A friendly person, Salvatore was well liked by all he knew.He dearly loved his family, was exceptionally proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.He loved his wife's cooking, stating that her kitchen was the best restaurant he has ever eaten at.Trips back to Venezuela and his native Sicily to visit family and friends was something he looked forward to.
Salvatore's big heart will be deeply missed by his dear family and friends.
Salvatore was the beloved husband of Carolina R. (Fazio) Sicari with whom he shared 70 years of marriage. Devoted father of Gaetano J. Sicari and his wife Mirella of Venice, FL, Domenic Sicari and his wife Estrella of Burlington, Angelo Sicari and his wife Faith of Stoneham, and Salvatore Sicari, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Wilmington. Dear brother of Sarina Sicari of Augusta, Sicily.Proud grandfather of Carolina, Sal, Steve, Tania, Jennifer, Melissa, Alysha, Salvatore III, and Justine.Also survived by his great grandchildren, Matthew, Jazlyn, Gino, Lorenzo, Mariella, and Gianna Marie.
