Sarah M. "Mattie" (Murray) Pierce died after a brief illness at the Epoch Senior Health Care in Melrose on Wednesday May 28, 2003.Mrs. Pierce was born in Boston December 6, 1920, daughter of the late Bernard and Gertrude (Baker) Murray. "Mattie" grew up in Jamaica Plain, and graduated from Sharon High School in Sharon.Mrs. Pierce was a secretary for many years at the Kendall Company, Boston.Mattie served in the Marine Corps during WWII and was an auxiliary member of the VFW Harold O. Young Post #2394, Melrose, a member of the Women Marines Association Mass Chapter MA-1 and a long time member of Trinity Church, Melrose.
Sarah M. "Mattie" (Murray) Pierce was the beloved wife of William B. Pierce.Mother of David B. Pierce and his wife Sandra of Salem, Barry W. Pierce of Phoenix, AZ and Stephen R. Pierce of Lowell.Sister of Matthew H. Murray of Malden.
Funeral Service in Trinity Church, 131 West Emerson St., Melrose Saturday May 31 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE Friday 4-8 pm.
Interment will be in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy, MA
