Sherron (Sanders) Gauch

Sherron (Sanders) Gauch, resident of Melrose, passed away on October 9, 2023, at the age of 79. She was born on April 10, 1944, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, the eldest of four children of the late Wilbert and Eleanor (Sulzbach) Sanders, and grew up in Wadsworth, Ohio.  As a child, Sherron possessed a love for music, and she carried that love with her throughout her life.

Sherron met and later married her beloved Gilbert “Gil” Gauch.  They were married on January 29, 1966, at Trinity Church in Copley Square.  They settled in Melrose in 1972 where they raised their family and enjoyed their time together.

After attending nursing school in Ohio, Sherron came to Boston to begin a career as a Flight Attendant for Eastern Airlines. Sherron's dedication to service extended beyond the skies, as she later joined Delta Dental, where she served as a customer liaison for over 25 years.  She made many lasting friendships through her work.

Sherron was fiercely independent, always embracing life's opportunities with open arms. She had a deep love for travel, and it was not uncommon for her and Gil to embark on 2-3 cruises each year with their beloved friends and family. Sherron also took great joy in visiting her family and attending annual family reunions during the warm summer months.  When her family was younger, they also looked forward to summers spent at Belleau Lake in New Hampshire.

An active and longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Melrose, Sherron found solace and purpose within her faith. She lent her time and talents to the church community, serving on the Vestry Council and lending her voice to the church choir. Music was a true passion of Sherron's, and she found immense joy attending concerts and plays that showcased the beauty of the performing arts.

Sherron had a heart of gold and found fulfillment in caring for others. When her beloved husband, Gil, fell ill, Sherron became his unwavering caregiver, ensuring he received the utmost love and attention. She extended this compassionate care to her in-laws when they faced health challenges, always going above and beyond to make them feel comfortable and supported.

Every holiday was a reason for celebration at Sherron's home, as it would be filled with the laughter and love of family and friends, and these gatherings became treasured memories that will forever be cherished.

Sherron will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Sherron was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert “Gil” Gauch with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Payton Wilkins and her husband Brendan of Leominster, and Garrick "Gary" Gauch and his wife Sheilah (McCarthy) of Melrose. Loving sister of Linda Wright and her late husband Sandy of Wilmington, NC, Susan Fields and her husband Woody of Brentwood, TN, and John Sanders and his wife Barbara of Leland, NC. Beloved grandmother of Brendan, Lauren and her husband Nicholas Garber, Abigail, and Ian, and great grandmother of Rhys.
