Stanley J. Pytlak, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, April 27, 2012 at the Golden Living Center - The Elmhurst, at the age of 98.

Stanley was born in Ipswich, one of two children of the late Stanley Pytlak and Sophia (Sebastyowicz) Pytlak.He was raised in Ipswich and graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin School.A proud veteran of the US Army Air Corps, he served during WWII on the largest air force base in England.Following his honorable discharge, he started a long working career at Ward Baking Co. where he worked until his retirement at 62.Starting out as a clerk, he worked his way up to become store manager of a Tip-Top Bread discount store in Medford.Stanley was a member of AFL-CIO and a longtime parishioner of Incarnation Church in Melrose.Mr. Pytlak was an avid gardener and a longtime Red Sox fan.He had lived in Ipswich, Cambridge, Boston, Medford, and most recently in Melrose for the last 35 years.

He was the beloved husband of the late Philomena M. "Phyllis" (Contrada) Pytlak with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.Devoted father of Paul J. Pytlak and his wife Jude of Beverly, and Janet M. Pytlak and her partner Judith A. Fader of Tewksbury.Dear brother of the late Josephine Pytlak.Cherished grandfather of Michael J. Pytlak and his wife Nicole of Melrose.Loving great-grandfather of Benjamin M. Pytlak and Ethan C. Pytlak.Also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, a grandniece and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends will honor and remember Stanley's life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Melrose on Tuesday, May 1 from 4-8 PM and again on Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM before leaving in procession to the Church of the Incarnation, 429 Upham St., Melrose where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.Interment with military honors presented by the US Air Force in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
