Mr. Stephen Garvey, of Peabody, died Saturday, April 15th in his home. He was 55 years old. He was struggling from complications of a brain tumor.
He leaves his wife of 27 years, Jill E. (Puglia) Garvey; a daughter, Lianne M. Brown and her husband, Kevin of Peabody; his mother, Norma (Lord) Garvey and a sister, Susan Garvey, both of Melrose. Also survived by a host of extended family and friends. He was the son of the late Wilfred Garvey. He was born in Melrose and lived almost 20 years in Wakefield before moving to Peabody two years ago.
Steve was a self-employed truck driver for many years, retiring in 1999 due to a disability. He was an avid sports fan and an expert skier. Other loves included sailing and spending time on the ocean. When Steve lost the physical ability to participate in the activities he loved, his interests turned to history and jazz. He'll forever be remembered as a good friend, a loving husband and father.
