Mrs. SueAnne (Casterlin) Hayes, a resident of Stoneham, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, at age 67.

SueAnne was born on October 14, 1947 in Albany, NY, one of five children of the late Bruce L. and Dorothy (Uliano) Casterlin.She was raised in Winchester and Melrose, graduating from Melrose High School, and receiving her Bachelor's degree from Middlesex Community College. On October 12, 1973 she married Edward Hayes and settled in Wakefield to raise her two sons.

She began her working career at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she worked with employees of NASA, and later worked in the mortgage industry.She returned to school to become a travel agent and enjoyed years travelling and cruising for work.In 2003, SueAnne returned to banking at Stoneham Savings Bank, working in the operations department. She retired in June after the bank was purchased by Salem Five.

Sue loved vacationing to Florida, playing bingo, and watching the Patriots. She was a strong woman, who was very supportive of her sons and loved her grandson. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, and had creative ideas on how to make the world a better place.

Sue was the beloved wife of Edward J. Hayes with whom she shared41 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Christopher Hayes and his wife Glenda Carnate of Dudley and David Hayes and his fiance Lucianna Rangkang of Nashua, NH, Dear sister of Bruce L. Casterlin Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Nancy Labriola of Stoneham, Gary Casterlin of FL and the late Brian Casterlin. Cherished grandmother of Christopher Hayes of Dudley. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of SueAnne'slife during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday from 4-8 PM, and again on Wednesday at 9AM before leaving in procession to St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM.
