Mrs. Verna S. (Towner) Varney, a life-long resident of Melrose died April 28, 2004 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.She was born in Melrose, daughter of the late Arthur E. and Emma F. (Boynton) Towner.
Mrs. Varney was the owner of the Yankee Duck Farm in Melrose.She was a 74 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Melrose.
Devoted wife of the late Charles E. Varney.Beloved mother of Joyce Bourne and her husband James E. of Melrose and Ann Lewis Dailey and her husband William B. of Saugus.Loving grandmother of James D. Bourne of Tewksbury, Joy Quigley of Melrose, Donald B. Lewis of Braintree, Carrie A. Lewis of Malden and William J. Dailey of Allston.Also survived by 11 loving great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Saturday May 1, 2004.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Friday 4-7 PM. Interment will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
