Violet E. (Lefever) Vienot, of Melrose, formerly of Lancaster, PA, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was 81 years old.
Vi was born December 12, 1927 in Lancaster, PA, a daughter of the late Ira G. and Myrtle (Glass) Lefever. She graduated from Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, and lived most of her life in Pennsylvania.Vi moved to Melrose in 1998 for the birth of her first grandchild and her second grandchild in 1999.She loved caring for and raising her grandsons.
In Pennsylvania, Vi worked as an administrative assistant for Armstrong, as a medical assistant for Dr. Irene B. Davis, and as an expeditor of accounts for the Harold E. Smith Company. She came out of retirement to work for financial advisor P. Alan Loss.
Vi was a committed member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Lancaster and volunteered with many of its committees. She loved children and volunteered in the Sunday School Program at the church for over 20 years. She also babysat nieces, nephews and children in her neighborhood.A devoted friend, Vi maintained friendships from her childhood and easilyconnected with people of all ages. Vi's other interests included crossword puzzles, scrabble games, and creating framed wedding invitations with dried flowers.
She is survived by her son Kent and his wife Teri of Melrose, and their two children Nicholas and Dylan.She was the dear sister of Helen Sparrow of Mentor, Ohio and the late Josephine Glick, Clair, Donald and Melvin Lefever and Hazel Leayman.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours in The Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Melrose on Monday, August 17th from 4 - 8 PM.Additional Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, August 19th from 6 - 8 PM in Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, Lancaster, PA.
