Mr. Victor A. DeMaggio, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, at the age of 77.
Victor was born on May 20, 1936 in Malden, one of four sons of the late Sylvester and Diana (Dettore) DeMaggio.He was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School.Victor owned and operated Pete's Donuts with locations in Malden, Everett, and Revere for over 20 years.
Victor enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.He loved travelling and frequented the Dominican Republic. True to his Italian roots, he loved gathering with family and friends and enjoying good food.He loved sitting by his pool, and of course, Italian pastries.
Victor was the best friend and beloved husband of Eileen M. (Crowley) DeMaggio.Father of Linda Rhodes of FL, Victor A. DeMaggio, Jr. of CT, and Peter DeMaggio of NH. Brother of Louis DeMaggio and his wife Beverly of Woburn, Gus DeMaggio and his wife Helen of Hanover, NH, and Joe DeMaggio and his wife Lucyof Madison, FL.Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and dear friends Bob and Josephine Driscoll of Merimack, NH.
Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Victor's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, May 28 from 4-8 PM and again on Wednesday at 9:00 AM before leaving in procession to the Church of the Incarnation, 429 Upham St., Melrose, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
