Mr. Viktor Y. Livshits, of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2012 at Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford, at the age of 84.
Viktor was born on January 14, 1928 in Odessa, Ukraine, a son of the late Jacob Livshits and Maria Varshavskaya.An athlete in his youth, Viktor was known across the world for his mountain climbing.Viktor had worked as a manufacturing mechanical engineer for many years while living in the Ukraine. He immigrated to the United States in 1996 and settled in Melrose to be near his children.While living at the Cefalo Memorial Complex in Melrose, he had made many friends with his friendliness and good nature.
Viktor was the beloved husband of Marta Korkh with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.Devoted father of Alexandr Livits and his wife Irina of Saugus, and Eugene Livshits and his wife Angela Zaikovskaya.Cherished grandfather of Andrew Kagalovsky, Maria Livshits, and Angelina Zaikovskaya.He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Viktor's life by gathering for his Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, March 7 at 11:00 AM.Interment will follow at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
