Virginia M. DiMambro

Virginia M. (Foster) DiMambro, of Woburn, formerly longtime of Medford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, at age 91.

Virginia was born in Boston on September 10, 1933, one of four daughters of the late Ralph and Emma (Daley) Foster. Raised in East Boston, Virginia graduated from East Boston High School, and married Medford native George DiMambro on October 13, 1958. They settled in Medford to raise a family of four children David, Mary Anne, John and Andrew. Hard-working and dedicated, Virginia worked for almost 40 years for the original New England Telephone Co. and later Nynex before retiring from Verizon.

Virginia and George enjoyed traveling together across the world, with favorite destinations including Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and cruises to Bermuda. Closer to home, they found joy in the thrill of Las Vegas and seeing nature while visiting the US National Parks. For many years, Virginia loved time on Long Sands Beach in York, Maine, and spent a month every winter in Florida for Red Sox preseason baseball.

Virginia was an active member of the Red Hat Society in Melrose, enjoyed lively card games, and kept her mind sharp with game shows. Her sense of humor and love for a good joke endeared her to friends and family alike. Virginia will be deeply missed, but her strength of will, warmth, and love will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her.

Virginia was the beloved wife of the late George DiMambro with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Devoted mother of David DiMambro and his wife Paula of Wakefield, Mary Anne Guerriero and her husband Robert of Rumney, NH, John DiMambro and his girlfriend Kimberly Fitzpatrick of Georgetown, and Andrew DiMambro and his wife Lisa of Billerica. Dear sister of Jean Murray of Winthrop and the late Emaline Foster, and Patricia Grant. Cherished grandmother of Kevin, Clara, John, Michael, Brenden, and Jacob DiMambro. Loving great-grandmother of John and Sophia.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Virginia's life during Visiting Hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Wednesday, March 19 from 3-6pm.
