Virginia L. "Ginny" Stevens

Mrs. Virginia L. (Conger) "Ginny" Stevens, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Monday, May 19, 2014.She was 85.

Virginia was born in Melrose on August 10, 1928, daughter of the late Kenneth L. and Esther (Cayting) Conger.She was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School, Class of 1945.She married Malcolm Stevens and they raised their family of three children in Wakefield.

Virginia, known as "Ginny" devoted herself to her family.She was always there to lend her loving support and care for her children.She loved gathering as a family together every summer at their cottage on Lovell Lake in Sanbornville, NH.She enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature, and enjoyed boat rides with the whole family around the lake.

Accompanied by her husband Mal, she really enjoyed travelling.They travelled together all throughout the world to places like Russia, Europe, Australia, Africa, and every island in the Caribbean.

A very creative person, Ginny loved doing all sorts of crafts, and enjoyed knitting.She was fun-loving, enjoyed socializing, and took particular joy and comfort in being around young people.During her free time, she loved baking for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always ready to provide a good meal.Above all else, she loved her family, and was a constant source of love and devotion.

Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Malcolm G. "Mal" Stevens, Jr. with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.Devoted mother of Robert G. Stevens and his wife Diane Keefe of Merrimack, NH, Linda E. Holmes and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, and William K. Stevens and his wife JoAnn of Wilmington. Dear sister of the late Kenneth L. Conger, Jr.Cherished grandmother of Kristy Holmes of Medford, Brian C. Stevens of Stoneham, Peter Keefe and his wife Dayna of FL, William Keefe of Lowell, Ashly Holmes of Tewksbury, and Michael Holmes and his wife Erynn of Tyngsboro.Loving great-grandmother of Teagan, Skyla, Sadie, and Caleb.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Ginny's life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose during visiting hours on Friday, May 23 from 4-8 PM, and again for her Funeral Service celebrated at the Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday at 10AM.
