Mr. Walter Donatelli, a longtime resident of East Boston, passed away peacefully at his home on April 16, 2011. He was 85 years old.
Walter was born on May 22, 1925 in Boston, a son of the late Augusto Donatelli and Assunta (Camarda) Donatelli.
Mr. Donatelli was a graduate of Boston Latin High School and M.I.T. Class of 1950.A US Army veteran, Walter served his country proudly during World War II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.He retired from the Army as a Major after serving 3 years active duty and 20 years in reserves.
Mr. Donatelli had a long and distinguished career as a manufacturing and industrial engineer.He worked for GTE Sylvania as well as Philips of North America for many years.A holder of several patents, Walter's career included managing engineering projects as well as improving quality control and performance in manufacturing.
Walter was the devoted brother of Elsa DeSanctis of East Boston, Antonetta Fiamingo of Watertown, and Eda Kramer and her husband Ken of Lynnfield. Cherished uncle of Raymond DeSanctis Jr. and Brian DeSanctis both of East Boston, John Fiamingo of Burlington, Susan Pope of Gloucester, Melissa Kramer of Middleton, Valerie Charles of Fairfield, CT and Andrea Kramer of Methuen.
Funeral Service to celebrate and honor Walter's life will be held in the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St, Melrose on Wednesday, April 20 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
