Mr. Walter A. "Sonny" Jackson, a resident of Nashua, New Hampshire and formerly of Melrose, died at the Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare in Nashua, NH on Monday, February 22, 2010 after a period of declining health.He was 75 years old.Mr. Jackson born in Malden, one of six children and the only son of Walter A. Jackson Sr. and Clara B. (Jones) Jackson.Walter or "Sonny" as he was affectionately known, was raised in Lynn and Malden, graduating from Malden High School.After working for Seilers, Inc. for 23 years, he owned Jackson's Smoke Shop in Melrose and worked part time for the Melrose Drug Center.He was a Little League and Babe Ruth baseball coach and loved football.
Sonny was the beloved husband of Nancy (Swindell) Jackson with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage.Devoted father of Karen E. Jackson of Nashua, NH, Wendy M. Reichard and her husband Michael of Coaldale, PA, and Alan W. Jackson and his wife Rachael of E. Freetown.Dear brother of Barbara Brown of Allentown, PA and the late Marilyn Connolly, Claire Hachey, Phyllis Wall, and Wanda Jackson.Cherished grandfather of Ashley Tishko, Alan Reichard and Callie Jackson.Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Friday, February 26 at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
