Mr. Walter G. Senior, of Melrose, formerly of Methuen and Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at age 91.
Walter was born in Lawrence, February 13, 1925, one of two children of the late Edwin Senior and Bertha (Hugel) Senior. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, was a POW, and received a BA from Boston University before settling down to raise a family.Walter worked in Human Resources and Purchasing at Gordon College. He was a resident of Methuen for many years before moving to North Conway, NH, and then returning to MA to spend time with family.
Walter enjoyed racing cars, traveling to Europe, and puttering around the house painting and fixing things. He was a devout Christian with deep faith and a love for his family and friends.
Walter was the beloved husband of the late Janet (Duchesne) Senior, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage.He was a devoted father of his stepchildren Thomas K. Ruffen of Vancouver, B.C., Janice D. Dagle and her husband Glenn of Lawrence, Gary W. Ruffen of Seabrook, NH, and Christopher G. Ruffen of Amesbury, and was a dear brother of Gail Chamberlain of Lawrence. He was a longtime close friend of Eleanor Ruffen of Methuen, had eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Walter's life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, September 23, from 4-7pm, followed by his Funeral Service celebrated at 7:00pm.
