Mr. William "Bill" A. Winsor, a longtime resident of Saugus, passed away at Mass General Hospital on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at age 66.
Bill was born in Everett on May 21, 1949, son of the late William E., and Mary Vivian (Cox) Winsor. The family moved to Saugus where Bill was raised and educated and where he would later settle with the love of his life, Kim (Burtis) Winsor.Bill and Kim were married on October 1st, 1983 and lived happily together for over 31 years.
Not one comfortable to be sitting too long, Bill worked as a service writer and manager for multiple Ford dealerships before going to work for Braun Company in the warehouse. Most recently, Bill worked at Hunts Photo in Melrose as a receiver. He had a strong worth ethic and enjoyed working with his hands. At home, Bill could often be found fixing broken objects and appliances around the house, even painting or shingling a roof if needed.Working with his hands allowed to him to stay busy and use skills his father taught him growing up.
As much as he enjoyed getting his hands dirty around the house, he cherished the time he got to spend with his loving wife Kim, son Rob, his granddaughter, Trinity and daughter in-law, Gina. Each day with his granddaughter, Trinity was an adventure.Whether they were going for a trolley ride or checking out the scenes of Boston from seats of a duck boat, they always had fun together. If she was happy, that was all he needed. He loved to see her face light up with excitement when a whale would breach during their whale watching trips. On those days where they had to stay home they would play together with Misty, Bill's beloved Golden Retriever.
When not repairing everything he could in the house and Trinity was not around, Bill wanted to travel. He loved being outside in Jackson, New Hampshire enjoying the fresh air and the sights around him.On these trips he always had his camera with him, clicking away trying to capture everything he saw.He shared his passion for the wilderness and nature with his Cub Scouts while he was chairman of Cub Scout Pack #62 in Saugus for three years.
Independent and strong, Bill was a do-it-himself man, a caring grandfather, and a great family man.Bill will be missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bill was the beloved husband of Kim Winsor with whom he shared 31 years of marriage.Father of Rob Winsor of Saugus, and grandfather of Trinity R. Winsor of Medford.Father in-law of Gina Insogna of Medford.Relatives and friends will gather for a Celebration of Bill's life at Lexington Christian Academy, 48 Bartlett Ave., Lexington, Monday, July 20 5:30 pm - 8 pm.
