Mr. William C. "Bill" Moore, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose.He was 86 years of age. Mr. Moore was born on October 26, 1922 in Meriden, CT, one of three children of the late William H. Moore and Alice (White) Moore.William or "Bill" as he was better known, was raised and educated in Arlington and Medford.He worked as an Industrial Engineer in textiles for many years.He was a very active member and past commander of the Harold O. Young, VFW Post #2394 and a member of the Patrol Craft Sailors Association. A Boy Scout Leader, Bill started the Boy Scout Troop at Incarnation Church where he was a parishioner.Bill was an especially proud veteran for his service time to his country in WWII as a Sonarman, 1st Class in the US Navy.Mr. Moore was the beloved husband of F. Beryl (Mellor) Moore with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.Devoted father of Joanne Muse of Melrose and William H. Moore of Kingston and his late partner Peter Nicholas Mazza.Dear brother of Marylyn Hickey of Norton and the late Louis Moore. Cherished grandfather of Kathleen Murphy of Woburn, Lori Muse of Melrose and Daniel Muse of Wakefield. Loving great grandfather of Michael William Muse and Katelyn Nicole Murphy both of Woburn.Also survived by many nieces, nephews and Bill Muse of Melrose.
Funeral from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE, Thursday, October 22 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in honor and remembrance of Bill's life at the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM.Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne will be private.
